THOUGHTS FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON...Commit it to prayer……
Over the next 45 days we will be celebrating the 2010 holiday season. For some it will be a time of joy, heightened activity, shopping, family and stress. Most of us will cherish this time of the year by spending time of praise and worship with family and friends, giving thanks and gifts, building relationships and enjoying meals fit for “The King”.
For others, it will be a tough emotional time. This will be extended throughout the entire holiday season. The season will be tremendously difficult. Coping will seem impossible. They will be without family and friends, some will experience for the first time in their life, a holiday season without a loved one. Some will be without because of the economy. There will be jacked-up finances, the lost of employment, the potential loss of home and simply being in great despair.
REACH OUT
Reaching out to this silent minority is critically important. As much as we can, we want to provide an open door for these individuals, allowing them the opportunity to receive love and to give thanks during this season. We need to provide a door of love, acceptance and appreciation. Matthew 25:34-40 (The Message) reminds us of some basic principles. http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=matthew%2025:34-40&version=MSG

Evangel Assembly's "Missions Week' Finale Celebrates the Work of God through Missions
Sunday October 10, 2010 represented day seven and the final day of the "Missions Week" celebration at Evangel Assembly, 5900 Old Branch Avenue, Temple Hills, Maryland 20748.
I wanted to take some time before filing my last day observations. I first want to thank Sarah Hearn for the pictures that she sent to the facebook family. I thank all the others writers and photogs for sharing their work, observations and experiences.
This year closer relationships were established and I felt, as a number of writers have shared, that our missionaries and guest will returned to their circle of influence appreciated, rested, more equipped to do the work of the Lord and to make a bigger impact as they are now better able serve those most in need.
I commend our leadership team, the Evangel family and each ministry for selflessly serving and doing as unto the Lord.
On Sunday 10.10.10 we sang of the Lord's great love to make an eternal stamp on all generations. The theme "All Generations" comes from Psalms 89:1. Sunday, brought an overflow capacity attendance. A high quality, high energy service which lifted up the name of Jesus through extended praise and worship, choir and youth performances, the presentation of the flag of the United States of America and a Parade of Flags from nations all around the world. What an awesome time!
There was time for military honors, governmental awards and a riveting message delivered by Evangel Assembly's Senior Pastor Reverend St. Clair Mitchell entitled "Your Time Has Come" inspired the book of Isaiah Chapter 6.
In his message Pastor Mitchell spoke of being selfless in our work, to focus on the work at hand and to serve unconditionally. He asked a sobering question..."Does God have your attention?" He stated that in order for anything to happen around the world, it must happen first in the church. The ultimate outcome of any effort is the glorification of God! God makes things to happen "I saw the Lord"...from Isaiah 6:1 God shows himself mighty at all times through any circumstances of life.
Overcoming selfishness requires us to understand the preeminence of God. God is in control of all things, this government and the affairs of the world. We must decrease so that God can increase in all things.
The day concluded with financial pledge commitments to the continued work of the missionaries and their work for the Lord.
As the missionaries and guests departed, they travelled to the north, south, east and west regions of the world and they go knowing that the Evangel community is with them and will undergird their efforts in service.
This week ended with a reminder that as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him"--

The Preeminent God Glorified at Evangel Assembly's "Missions Week" Musical Extravaganza
Evangel Assembly's Music and Fine Arts Pastor Jesse G. Williams Jr., the Evangel Music and Fines Art team and invited musical guests delivered another well crafted and powerful "Musical Extravaganza".
This "Missions Week" program at Evangel Assembly 5900 Old Branch Avenue, Temple Hills, Maryland, offered music from traditional gospel to gospel with a Caribbean beat. There was powerful praise and worship, story telling through drama and dance, opportunities for exceptional giving and sacrifice, plus the joy of being able to laugh and cry all in the presence of Almighty God.
The Mistress of Ceremonies, Sister Clarissa Stroud, masterfully kept the program moving with grace and sensitivity as the Spirit of God moved over an almost capacity crowd.
Pastor Michael King, worship leader at Evangel Assembly delivered the Call to Worship and then lead Genesis, Evangel Assembly's anointed praise team as they ministered in song and graciously ushered us all into an audience with God.
We were treated to special musical performances by the Evangel Men's Ensemble and The Evangel Sanctuary Choir featuring the International Ministerial Network Mass Choir. We were blessed by the musical presentation of The Lopez Family representing the Navajo Indian Reservation in New Mexico. We were moved by the timely and powerful work of Evangel's youth through The Evangel Dance and Drama Ministry. We were lead into more passionate praise and worship by the Upon This Rock Tabernacle Choir of Washington D.C., The Higher Calling Choir from Lowndes County, Alabama, Mo' Than Conquerors of Tampa Florida and Vizion of Atlanta, Georgia.
We give thanks to God for the love, care and commitment put into this awesome musical offering. Through the time and commitment given, souls were saved. Hallelujah!
We must thank God for the leadership of Missions Pastor Eric Dorsey under the direction of Senior Pastor Reverend St. Clair Mitchell for making this week, a week to remember.
We also give thanks for each Evangel ministry for their service in support of the Missions Team. Thank God for Evangel Assembly and the leadership team for a job well done!

Missions Night at Evangel Assembly, A Huge Success!
Wednesday Night (day four) of Evangel Assembly's "Missions Week" was a huge success. Thanks to Master of Ceremonies and Evangel Assembly's Local Missions Team Leader Deacon Richard Bell and his wife Deaconess Jackie Bell for their faithfulness and for a job well done. Thanks to Sister Sarah Hearn, International Missions Team Leader for serving as a presenter. Thanks to Genesis, Vizion and The Higher Calling Choir for escorting us into praise and worship.
The celebration of missionaries, the missionary testimonies and the power of praise and worship ministered to the hearts, minds and spirits of each and every person in the Evangel sanctuary. Yet the evening was not complete. Evangel Assembly's Senior Pastor Reverend St. Clair Mitchell, delivered us a bonus, through his anointed closing remarks that served as a reminded us that we serve "The God of How".
Pastor Mitchell charged the men and women in attendance to move on what God has called them to do. Do not be afraid! If you have a calling on your life, move to get it done!
Using the scriptural examples of the "Virgin Mary" and "The Floating Axhead", among others, he charged the audience to remember that "what and why" always comes before "how". We must remember to trust God despite the difficulty or what may seem to be the impossible. If God has called you to move toward your purpose, move! He knows the plan He has for you. He has declared it! He knows who, what, where, when, why and "how". Therefore, move because you can trust and serve "The God of How".

Patience or Peace?
Beloved,
If God answers prayer, which He does, then why do we continue to pray for patience? Is not once enough?
Think about every time we pray for patience. God being consistent in His love for us, Sovereign, faithful to His Word, He still is the God that cannot lie etc., would He “not” answer our prayer and give us what we prayed for...something for which to be patient.
The reason we pray for patience is because something has continuously not gone our way, we cannot understand why things are not going our way or things are not done in our "perfect" timing.
We have prayed, "God give me patience!" Instead of relief, we face an additional situation. We donot understand. How can this be? We stay frustrated. Things do not change. We pray again for patience. God answers. We pray again for patience. God answers. We pray again for more patience. God answers again….STOP!
In times of frustration, struggle, stress, pain, suffering etc., let’s listen to the voice of God. Make a simple attitude transition and word exchange. Instead of “God give me patience” exchange that prayer with “God give me peace” …and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard “our heart” and “our mind” in Christ Jesus, Our Lord.”
Just a thought…..

What is wrong with the way we pray?
The scripture gives us the perfect model of prayer. Could it be we have forgotten what it says? Let's review
The book of Matthew Chapter 6 is full of a critical information for the beloved. In this text is the model for prayer. The way to approach a loving, merciful and sovereign God.
I am reminded that there is the potential that our prayers can go unanswered if we ask with the wrong motive of heart.
Let's take a look of the Model of Prayer as laid out in the Book of Matthew (NIV)
Matthew Chapter 6: 6 - 15
5 "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.
6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.
8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
9 "This, then, is how you should pray:"
'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, (Humility and reverance)
10 your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. (Not my will, but Your will be done, O'God)
11 Give us today our daily bread. (Give us what we need and can handle for today)
12 Forgive us our debt, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.[a]' Keep us from those things that will cause us to go astray and protect us from the evil one.
14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. (Humbly Lord receive my prayer and thank you for the ability and direction to forgive)
15 But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
I hope this refresher helped you. It is good that we taken this opportunity to review. Now pray!

What is Success?
"A progressive realization of a worthy ideal" is a long time definition of sucess.
MSN Encarta defines success as: "The achievement of intention, the achievement of something planned or attempted. The attainment of fame, wealth, or power: impressive achievement, especially the attainment of fame, wealth, or power. Something that turns out well: something that turns out as planned or intended. Somebody successful: somebody who is wealthy, famous, or powerful because of a record of achievement."
Webster defines success as, "The act of succeeding; succession. That which comes after; hence, consequence, issue, or result, of an endeavor or undertaking, whether good or bad; the outcome of effort.
The favorable or prosperous termination of anything attempted; the attainment of a proposed object; prosperous issue. That which meets with, or one who accomplishes, favorable results, as a play or a player."
Good definitions! "How do you define success? Let's talk about it!
